Exciting Times for [PIP.sub.2]
Article Abstract:
Fats may be essential in controlling a protein which helps regulate the movement of potassium ions moving in and out of cells. Specifically, fats are crucial to the structure of cell membranes, and may help regulate the adenosine triphosphate-senstive potassium channel. Despite these indicators, there are more research to be done on this subject.

Evidence for a family of archaeal ATPases
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the Methanococcus jaanaschii genome discovered a family of 16 proteins whose function could not be guessed since they were not similar to any known protein groups. It is suggested that the new family belongs to a broad group possessing ATPase activity.

Aquaporins and ion conductance
Article Abstract:
A study of membrane conductance in Xenopus Laevis oocytes injected with aquaporin1 (AQP1) complementary RNA observed ion conductance in the AQPI protein. However, several labs have not been able to reproduce the results.
